Unlocking The Entrepreneurial Mindset & Increasing Social Resilience

Nurses are some of my favourite people in the world.

Growing up, I spent a lot of time in hospitals. My dad was a doctor, and I had to follow my father to work when there were no other caregiving options.

The nurses would take care of me when my father was busy. They would fashion toys out of rubber gloves, and give me tinned peaches as a treat. Till today, no matter the delicacies I’ve had, tinned peaches remain my favourite type of dessert.

I was thrilled when NUHS reached out to have me do a keynote at their 1st Centre for Nursing Excellence Conference. I spoke about how nurses could find their voice, unlock their entrepreneurial mindset, and work on increasing their resilience and self-care.

An Entrepreneurial Mindset

You don’t have to be an entrepreneur in order to have or need an entrepreneurial mindset. The nurses who made toys out of rubber gloves for me were displaying the mindset!

An entrepreneurial mindset is:

  • Ability to spot an opportunity

  • Constant curiosity

  • Taking ownership and responsibility

  • Not being afraid to take a smart risk

  • Connecting the dots

These are the crucial Deep Human skills for the future, and we have to double down on these skills, in the era of Deep Tech. I have trained thousands of leaders in this mindset in my Deep Human Leadership masterclasses.

If you’d like to learn more about shattering limiting beliefs and unlocking your mindset to take on a more empowered approach, join us for our signature training programmes. We are also really excited to introduce our latest masterclass, Deep Human Introduction to Mindfulness Masterclass!

This course is ideal for people seeking to manage stress, improve their focus, and make better decisions at work and in their personal lives.

Details and tickets to this masterclass are here.

Thank you NUHS for having me, and for making me feel like I was home.

Increasing Social Resilience

So many of us, nurses or not, burn out because of the nature of our jobs. How can we make sure this can be managed? While much of resilience research focuses on individual strengths, recent studies suggest it is social support that matters most.

Here’s what you can do to amp up your social resilience:

  1. Audit your social influences

  2. Reach out to friends and colleagues – ask for/offer support

  3. Make time for small talk AND deep talk

  4. Give feedback - it is a gift

  5. Laugh!

This is also why I set up the Deep Human Clubs. There is so much power in being part of a community, in supporting each other, and in being committed to learning and growing (and laughing!) together.

The strength of our social networks can be a powerful tool in managing the demands of our professional and everyday lives. Whether it’s through small acts of support or the joy of shared laughter, thank you for being part of this community.

Much love

Crystal
