Mindset of Radical Ownership

The Power To Choose

99% of the time as adults, we have the agency to choose. So if you’ve chosen to do something, try to do it wholeheartedly without grumbling, resentment or playing the victim.

If things just aren’t working out for you anymore, choose something else. Negotiate, problem-solve, plan, scheme, get advice, seek mentors, experiment or take a break to reflect on your next move. Just do not sit still and curse your lot in life. The power to choose is our birthright.

If you are choosing to embark on a mentoring journey and be part of the Deep Human Club community, join us via Zoom on 1 Dec, Sunday, at 4pm, to see what you can expect as a member of Deep Human Club 2025. You can also ask any questions you may have! The session will also give you priority access to sign up, before we officially launch the clubs to the public. So many members of our founding VIP cohort renewed their 6-month mentoring memberships — a clear sign that what we’re building here is impactful and truly valuable.

Shift from “I have to” to “I get to”

Shifting your mindset from having to do things, to getting to do things is empowering because it reminds you that you always have a choice. If you’re choosing to do it, it must be because it serves you in some way. Perhaps you’re choosing job security, or avoiding conflict and seeking harmony. No one is holding a gun to your head to do anything. For example, if you feel like you’re stuck coaching teammates who are less capable, reframing from, “I have to coach the team” to “I get to coach the team” will help you to see that developing others is a great privilege and opportunity to grow your coaching skills and unlock the potential of others.

Provocative Prompts

If you’re not turning your dreams and ideas into reality, ask yourself these questions:

  1. Is it internal self-talk? Do you need to work on limiting beliefs and give yourself more self-compassion?

  2. Is it lack of organisation? Do you need time-blocking on your calendar to get stuff done, or prioritisation and productivity tools like the Eisenhower Matrix?

  3. Is it a lack of energy? Do you need to replenish your energy stores through sleep, exercise or selfcare?

  4. Is it a lack of social support or mentorship? Who in your life can help you achieve these goals and ideas?

  5. Is it a lack of skills? What do you need to learn so that you can bring your ideas to reality? (If it’s in networking and building connections, join me for dinner and learn how to network at the same time!)

Much love
