Wake Up From Being On Auto-Pilot Mode

An Experiment

Grab your phone and set a timer for 60 seconds. Ready? Now hit start and do absolutely nothing for the next minute.

Did you make it? If so, think back to that minute. Did your mind wander, did you start fidgeting, or maybe even wonder if you were doing it right?

The truth is, doing ‘nothing’ is harder than it seems. In fact, studies show that people would rather give themselves a little electric shock than sit idle!

Implications

The average percentage at which our mind wanders is at 47%, and this means for nearly half the time, people are not paying attention to what they are doing, or listening to what others are saying. (You have to re-read this again if you’re one of those whose minds wandered!)

What happens if you’re only mindful half the time? How does that affect your work, relationships, well-being, and productivity? What has this lack of focus cost you?

What’s Next

If you're looking to take charge of your stress, sharpen your focus, and make smarter choices at work and in life, check out our latest offering, Deep Human Introduction to Mindfulness! After years of requests for mindfulness recommendations, I’m thrilled to finally recommend a workshop I can wholeheartedly stand behind, because it will be led by Greg!

You will explore what mindfulness is, why it matters, and learn practical techniques you can immediately weave into both your personal and professional life.

Mindfulness and focus is the theme for our Deep Human Club this month. On top of our workshop, we are also in the middle of hosting a 21-day mindfulness challenge for our members. We gather online at 7am and Greg leads the group in starting the day together mindfully. The feedback has been super positive. People are noticing things in their everyday lives that they never saw, heard or felt before, and being more compassionate towards themselves, their family members and colleagues.

Your brain is changing all the time. Well-being is a skill, and not accidental, or a matter of luck. Snap out of your auto-pilot mode, see what is truly important, and know what is missing as well.

Much love

Crystal
